‘Tooth Whitening’

Whitening Gel

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

Getting your teeth whiter can be a battle, and one that you’re going to have to come up with different methods in order to fight.  But one of the most tried and true systems is actually using whitening gel.  This way, you can literally bleach your teeth white in a flash, so that you’re actually stripping off years of abuse and dying those teeth a much more natural pure white color.  Plus whitening gel is usually easy to use, and can be something that you can do right from home.  It’s just a matter of buying the right type of system, to get the job done.  There are plenty of options out there, and  you just have to find the one that’s going to work the best for your needs.

When you’re after the right type of whitening gel, what you’re going to find is that they all work in about the same type of way. They all pretty much feature a special type of bleaching gel solution, that’s meant to sit on your teeth for a predetermined amount of time, so that they can literally dye the surface whiter.  However, what you’re also going to find is that you have to be careful, because the gel is typically pretty bad for you, and can be poisonous when swallowed.  For that, you’re meant to use a special type of applicator, to ensure that nothing will be swallowed, and to keep the gel actually on top of your teeth.

This type of applicator for whitening gel is most typically in the form of a mouth guard.  You’re able to fill it with the gel that you need to use, and then bite down so that it’s totally over your teeth.  Then after half an hour or an hour in most cases, you can actually see your teeth begin to whiten slightly when you take the applicator off.  However, you do need to be aware that whitening gel takes a few treatments in order to work.  While you can see negligible results in the beginning, the only way to really make a change is to keep going over a matter of weeks or even months, to really get the long term results that you crave.

What’s more, you have to be mindful of extra care for your teeth, to maximize the potential of your whitening gel as well.  That means you want to be doing things like using special whitening toothpastes so that you can get some extra work done on the surface of your teeth after each meal.  But what’s more, you want to avoid some major teeth stain causers, like coffee or smoking.  That way, you won’t repeat any of the damage that you’ve just resolved.

Of course, buying the right type of whitening gel isn’t difficult either, as they are common home solutions.  You can find kits through just about any pharmaceuticals store.  Whether it be Walgreens, or CVS, you should be able to find the right kit to change the way that your teeth look for the better.  Just remember to follow the directions carefully, to make the most of your whitening gel

Laser Whitening

Getting your teeth whitened is something that can be a necessity for just about anyone.  However, choosing the right form of whitening can be a hassle, because there are so many options out there.  But very few are going to offer you the same quality as well as fast results as laser whitening.  This type of process is going to ensure that your teeth look noticeably whiter in a flash, so that you can actually see results right after you leave the dentist’s office.  Nothing else besides laser whitening is going to have your mouth looking that different in a matter of hours, and while the process can be expensive, the results alone speak for themselves.

When you’re after the best possible tooth whitening method, you just can’t find anything else out there.  That’s because laser whitening actually consist of peeling off those years of abuse from your teeth, using a laser.  This way, all that’s left behind is the tooth’s natural white coating underneath, which is going to have them looking as brilliant as when they were first sprouted.  Of course, when you are looking into laser whitening, it’s also important to consider a few things beforehand.  While this is the fastest working process, and the one that’s going to have the most noticeable results in a flash, you still need to think about if it’s really the way to go for you.

That’s because, one of the major things to realize about laser whitening, is that it’s really expensive.  It’s going to cost you hundreds of dollars in most cases, just for a few sessions, so that you can change your teeth over time.  Plus this type of process is purely cosmetic, and is not going to be covered under any type of dental plan.  However, most dentists will work with you to create some sort of financing plan, so that you can pay for the work over time, so long as you meet their credit standards.  That way, you can get the work done quickly, and ensure that you can have your teeth taken care of.

When you are looking into laser whitening, what you also have to realize is that the process is not permanent, unless you’re in the habit of taking good care of your teeth as well.  You have to actually take the initiative to work on your teeth once you get home to keep them white. That means using some sort of whitening toothpaste after every meal, and ensuring that you always get them clear of any meal residue as quickly as possible after eating, so that you can guarantee nothing is going to set into the new surface of your teeth.

What’s more, you have to investigate as to whether or not your local dentist even offers this type of service.  You’re going to find that not every dentist offers laser whitening, so you have to actually inquire into your local offices to see if the service is actually offered anywhere where you live.
